Our Sustainability Strategy
Driving positive change within SSP and across the food travel sector
Sustainability is a key strategic priority for SSP. Touching every aspect of our overall Group strategy, it is central to our purpose to be the best part of the journey and to our strategic priorities to deliver a leading customer proposition, develop skilled and engaged colleagues and generate long-term growth and returns.
We refreshed our Sustainability Strategy in 2021, backed by clear commitments and targets, and have now rolled it out across our operations worldwide. We have seen a wave of momentum in 2023 as we accelerate efforts to deliver this ambitious agenda and are starting to see the realisation of all our groundwork in delivering tangible progress against our targets.

See how we're building momentum in our 2023 Sustainability Report
We published our first stand-alone Sustainability Report last year, setting out our strategy and commitments - centred around Product, Planet and People - and how we planned to achieve them.
Now, we have published our 2023 Sustainability Report, highlighting how we're delivering on those plans and commitments, including detailed information on our 2023 progress. This year, we have also published our first Sustainability Data Book with comprehensive details of our yearly data performance, scope and definitions and reporting indices for GRI, SASB and TCFD.
Empowering our chefs with Klimato in the UAE
In 2023, we began our partnership with Klimato, a leading provider for calculating the carbon footprint of recipes, in the UAE to evaluate the climate impact of our recipes.
We conducted a two-month pilot of carbon labelling on the menus of our Ritazza and Camden Food Co. brands at Abu Dhabi International Airport, UAE. We added carbon labels and QR codes to our menus and in-store messaging to help educate and guide our customers toward climate-smart choices. We are now using the insights gained about how labelling influences customer behaviour to inform our strategy going forward.
Our net-zero targets are approved by Science Based Targets initiative
Our net-zero targets, which include our near- and long-term targets, have been validated by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the global body for validating emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science.
SBTi validation confirms that our targets meet the Science Based Targets initiative Net-Zero Standard, ensuring they are credible, transparent and consistent.
We received an MSCI ESG Rating of A
In June 2023, SSP Group plc received an MSCI ESG Rating of A (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.
MSCI ESG Research provides MSCI ESG Ratings for investors on global companies, based on a scale of AAA (leader) to CCC (laggard), according to exposure to industry-specific ESG risks and the ability to manage those risks relative to peers. Further details can be found at: www.msci.com
This achievement demonstrates the strong progress we are making against our sustainability strategy and targets, and reflects the increase in transparent reporting, including the publication of our first stand-alone Sustainability Report in January 2023.
