SSP in Australia & New Zealand

In 2009, SSP entered the Australian airport landscape with the inaugural launch at Sydney International Airport before progressing into Brisbane and Hobart Airports soon after.

In 2019, we acquired 14 food & beverage units from Australian hospitality company Red Rock, taking control of all their food & beverage operations throughout Perth and Melbourne Airports.

In 2024, we entered into an agreement to acquire Australia’s leading airport F&B operator Airport Retail Enterprise (ARE). This brought 62 outlets, principally bars, casual dining restaurants and cafes, across seven Australian airports, expanding SSP’s footprint to Canberra, Mount Isa, Townsville and Gold Coast airports. In the same year we made our entry into the New Zealand Market, and are now operating 7 outlets in Christchurch airport.

We now operate more than 115 units in 12 Australian airports, 1 New Zealand Airport as well as Sydney Central rail station, spanning major cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart, Canberra, Perth and Christchurch, alongside more regional locations such as the Gold Coast, Darwin, Townsville, Mount Isa, Alice Springs and Launceston.

We have brought popular high street food brands to the travel market to provide a wide range of delicious food and beverages that meet the needs of our customers. We also create bespoke concepts tailored to specific travel hubs. We currently operate more than 90 brands across the region, including local coffee roasters St ALi, Veneziano and Toby’s Estate. Beer branded pubs include Peroni Bar, Cascade Bar and Kitchen and Capital Brewing. Premium Casual Dining brands includes Luke’s Kitchen, Biggie Smalls, and Movida (Tapas) alongside key global and national QSR’s such as KFC, Hungry Jacks and Rolld. SSP Australia & New Zealand also operates a wide selection of bespoke brands, such as WA Cellar Bar, New York Burgers and Sydney Coffee Exports.

Luke's Bistro

Opened in 2024 within the Qantas terminal at Sydney Airport, Luke’s Bistro & Bar is a premium dining concept created in partnership with acclaimed Australian chef Luke Mangan. The venue brings an elevated yet approachable experience to travellers, showcasing a contemporary menu inspired by fresh, local ingredients and modern Australian flavours.

A highlight of the concept is the Champagne and Seafood Bar, offering travellers the opportunity to enjoy market-fresh prawns, oysters, and curated champagne selections before their journey. Complementing this is a dedicated coffee and grab-and-go section, designed for guests who prefer barista coffee and convenient, high-quality bites while on the move. For those with time to unwind, the venue also delivers a full sit-down casual dining experience, featuring dishes crafted with Luke Mangan’s signature culinary style.

The menu emphasises quality, seasonality, and a sense of indulgence, catering to the diverse tastes of domestic and international travellers. With this launch, SSP Australia & New Zealand continues to strengthen its premium dining portfolio, proudly operating this chef-led concept within one of Australia’s busiest terminals.

SSP Australia & New Zealand partnered with Veneziano, a specialty coffee roaster based in Richmond, Melbourne, to bring a premium coffee and dining experience to travellers.
