SSP opens first airside Starbucks at Edinburgh Airport

SSP and Starbucks have expanded their travel retail partnership by opening their first airside store at Edinburgh Airport.

Located in the departures area, it is one of the largest retail offerings at the airport, providing take-away service as well as 75 seats for passengers to relax over coffee before their flight. With low-level seating and serving areas, passengers have clear visibility across the departures areas to flight information boards and boarding gates.

Cathy Granby, SSP UK & Ireland’s Business Development Director, said: “Opening this new Starbucks store at Edinburgh Airport provides passengers with an elevated pre-departure experience from a leading brand. We have enjoyed great success with Starbucks at number of UK travel hubs and I’m confident that we’ll do the same here in Edinburgh.”

The opening follows a number of other SSP-operated Starbucks that have recently undergone a transformation, including Leeds Bradford and Birmingham airports.

Gail Taylor, Edinburgh Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer (Non-Aero) said: “There’s been a latte excitement around this new Starbucks, and we’re excited to see it open and start to serve customers and staff.

“We know having a well-known name and brand such as Starbucks continuing to serve people in the departures area at Edinburgh Airport will go down a treat with those travelling through. It’s been something our passengers have wanted to see, and it provides more options for them as they head through.”

The store is open daily between 04:00 and 22:00, increasing to 24/7 during the busiest summer travel season from July to October. Embracing the spirit of summer, passengers can enjoy Starbucks Summer menu, which includes the brand-new Crème Brulée x Iced Brown Sugar Oat Shaken Espresso, Crème Brulée x Cold Brew, Crème Brulée x Brown Sugar Frappuccino® blended beverage, Dragon Coconut Starbucks Refresha® Drink and returning Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refresha® Drink. Starbucks® UK proudly serves a broad range of dairy alternative options for free.

Matt Ebner, Senior Business Manager at Starbucks UK, said: “We are excited to open our new store in Edinburgh Airport and look forward to welcoming staff and passengers from all around the world. To celebrate the opening, we will be hosting an event for airport staff.”
