SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, has won a three year deal valued at approximately £24 million (306 million HKD) to operate a restaurant facility featuring seven brands at Hung Hom Station, Hong Kong. The win will be SSP’s first venture in the Chinese rail sector.
SSP will operate a 350-seater 1,210 square metre facility, offering a range of international as well as local brands.
Commenting on the deal, Chris Rayner, CEO of SSP Asia Pacific said; “We have been working at Hong Kong International Airport since 1998 and today SSP is a well-respected operator across Asia, offering a range of brands serving everything from local congee to caviar. We are delighted to be building on this success by expanding into the rail sector. SSP is already an established operator in the rail market in Europe, and we have recently recruited a number of senior managers with extensive experience in this part of SSP’s business to our local team here in Asia. This latest win will further reinforce our strong market position in Hong Kong and has opened up a new avenue for additional growth.”
The construction of the new F&B offer will begin in the first quarter of 2016. It will have a focus on sustainability – a ‘go green’ theme, created by SSP, will be underscored with a fresh colour scheme and the use of natural materials in design.

- Visited by more than 11 million guests every day, Burger King is one of the world’s best-known food service brands. Its commitment to quality ingredients, signature recipes and family-friendly dining has made it a favourite for over 60 years.
- Dim Sum Bar was founded in 2011 by Café Deco, one of Hong Kong’s leading bar and restaurant groups. A well-known must-visit destination for foodies in Harbour City and Nina Tower, the bar attracts mainland travellers as well as expats looking for traditional Hong Kong dim sum.Hokkaido Dairy Farm offers a fusion of Hong Kong cuisine with a dash of Japanese style. Its star ingredient is Hokkaido milk, which is used across an extensive menu. Its first outlet opened in 2009 and it now has nine locations across Hong Kong.
- Pacific Coffee is a modern coffee shop that provides customers with great quality coffee, a comfortable place to hang out and plenty of good food. The first store opened in Hong Kong in 1992 and the brand now has 445 shops in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia and Cyprus. In China alone it has 299 stores and continues to expand rapidly.
- Chatime serves the health-conscious customer a range of freshly brewed teas infused with a range of flavours. The use of high-tech tea making techniques, which account for variations in temperature, humidity and barometric pressure, ensures the highest quality at all times. This Taiwanese brand now has more than 1,000 outlets across Asia, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and North America
- At One Minute Gourmet, passengers can choose from a menu of grab and go snacks to carry on board. Developed by SSP for Hong Kong International Airport, the brand has proven highly popular since it was launched in 2014.
- SSP created BBQ House to meet the needs of passengers who crave classic Hong Kong-style roast meats. Blending archetypal flavours with contemporary presentation, the concept appeals to young diners as well as those of more traditional tastes.
Hung Hom Station is an interchange station of the East and West Rail Line in Hong Kong. It is currently the only station serving direct cross-boundary trains to Mainland China.
