Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport is now Spain’s second busiest airport, serving more than 50 million passengers a year.
SSP started its business in El Prat in 2008 with just two units and the whole business was developed in 2018 with seven units and diversified brands to respond to specific needs of passengers. Starbucks provides passengers with a well-known international coffee shop offer, Pannus is a local bakery option, Cooofe is an Italian-style bakery, La Tramoia brings customers a typically local experience, and fine quality Iberian hams and sausages can be found at Enrique Tomás. The offer is completed with two gastronomic brands; Alas and Slam developed by the identical twins Javier and Sergio Torres, better known as the Hermanos Torres (Torres Brothers). These Michelin-starred Spanish chefs are known for their innovative twist on classic Spanish dishes.
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is located eight kilometres from the city centre with excellent connections to the whole of the Costa del Sol. It is one of the longest-established Spanish airports as well as being one of the original locations of the first airline founded in Spain in 1919. It handles over 19 million passengers a year.
SSP has been operating at Málaga Airport for more than 20 years, and historically it has been one of the most important airports for the company’s Spanish division. The entire portfolio of brands that SSP Spain has been operating in this airport has been evolved and refreshed over the years. In 2018 SSP once again won the tender for most of the airport’s F&B business and has now introduced new brands such as Tim Hortons, YO! Sushi, Enrique Tomás, La Boutique, and Jamie’s Deli from well-known chef Jamie Oliver. It has also maintained existing successful brands that were already present at the airport such as Burger King, Starbucks and Soho Coffee Co.
The aim of the latest development was to introduce the latest culinary trends combined with local tradition and flavour, achieving a mix of brands to serve different segments of travellers based on their nationality, age, tastes and preferences.
Gran Canaria is one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain and Europe. The airport is situated 25 kilometres from one of the main tourist centres of the Canary Islands. Thanks to its ideal weather conditions, Gran Canaria Airport has excellent operating conditions and is open 24 hours a day every day of the year, offering a guarantee of service for both airline companies and tourists. The airport handles over 13 million passengers a year.
This airport has also been an important foot hold for SSP Spain for more than 16 years. The entire F&B contract was renewed in 2018 and the new offer includes ten units, featuring local and international brands, such as Starbucks, SOHO Coffee Co., Burger King, O’Learys Bar & Restaurant and Spanish charcuterie specialist Enrique Tomás. This new contract win reaffirmed SSP’s position as the leading restaurant operator in the travel market in the Canary Islands with a presence in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport is the busiest airport in Spain, welcoming almost 60 million passengers a year, and is one of the main points of entry for tourists to Spain.
In 2019, SSP opened its first unit in Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport’s Terminal. Mama Campo is a healthy food concept, which offers a varied selection of healthy food and drink options, including organic dishes, fresh fruit and cold pressed juices, all made with locally sourced and eco-friendly ingredients. The launch built on SSP’s successful introduction of the Mama Campo concept at Ibiza Airport.
This is a small business in a major airport that will allow SSP Spain to develop and strengthen our highly successful business in Spain.
