SSP enters Austrian market with 70 million euro contract win at Vienna

SSP has clinched a 70 million euro contract to operate six new units at Vienna International Airport’s new Skylink terminal extension. The deal, which will run for over five years, marks SSP’s first venture into the Austrian market. All the new units are scheduled to welcome their first customers in June next year.

 The new outlets will feature a selection of leading brands in international travel retail, as well as some of the finest names of Vienna. These include a food court from the luxurious food emporium Meinl, which has been Vienna’s premier address for gourmets and connoisseurs since 1862. Serving the freshly roasted, well balanced coffees for which the Meinl family have been renowned for five generations, the new food court will bring the charm and elegance of the Austrian capital to the airport.   

Coffee lovers will also be able to choose to visit Caffè Ritazza, known at travel locations throughout the world for its traditional Italian espresso served in a tranquil, inviting and modern setting. A Panopolis bakery, offering premium quality sandwiches inspired by the breads of the world, will also feature. Both CaffèRitazza and Panopolis will incorporate local specialities on their menus, such as the famous Viennese Sachertorte and other cakes and pastries typically found in the coffee houses of the city. These will be complemented by a table service restaurant, a local pub and an Austrian wine bar.

The capacity at the airport will increase from 22 to 28 million passengers in the coming years, and we’re delighted to be working on this high profile development at one of Europe’s most popular destinations for both leisure and business travellers.’

The new venture is expected to generate around 60 new jobs at the airport.
