SSP Lounge staff at Changi praised for customer service following A380 engine explosion.

SSP staff operating the Quantas customer lounge at Singapore Changi airport have been thanked for their fantastic work in helping to customers grounded by engine problems. On November 4th, an Airbus A380 belonging to Qantas was forced to turn back to Singapore after one of its engines exploded minutes into the flight to Sydney. The situation was repeated just two days later when Qantas Boeing 747-400 jumbo made an emergency landing in Singapore overnight due to engine failure.  The groundings resulted in an unexpected number of passengers in the airport, and the Quantas airline lounge. SSP responded quickly to ease the situation for passengers by increasing staff numbers and providing additional food and drink services. In a letter of thanks from Quantas, the team at Changi were thanked for their hard work

"Qantas wants to say thank you to the management and staff of SSP for helping us through a horrendous weekend starting 04 November 2010.  The situation we experienced with our QF32/04Nov and QF6/06Nov is something we would not be able to handle if not for the support of your team.  We are grateful to them for putting up with the long hours.  Despite the long hours nothing was too difficult for them and we had many positive remarks from our customers.

A special thanks to Quantas Manager Lai for leading the team so professionally and to  Operational Manager Tak for coming on to assist with the food and physically present in our lounge to help with the preparation of food on 07Nov10. All these with very short notice.
