Caffè Ritazza has won the Bel UK Café Food Award at the 2011 annual Café Society Awards for its Firecracker Chicken and Chorizo Panini Melt. With Natura Amore’s Sicilian Cake Range and Caffe Gusto’s Flatbread and Sandwich Range in its category, Caffè Ritazza fought off fierce competition to win the acclaimed title.

The Café Society is a trade body which focuses on the encouragement of the café experience as a way of life in the UK. These awards aim to recognise and celebrate the key contributors who have helped toward achieving this ethos.  Caffè Ritazza won the Bel UK Café Food title on account of its Firecracker Chicken and Chorizo Panini Melt, a feast of flavour and texture, and a great overall eating experience.

The Firecracker was created in response to the surge in popularity of spicier and ethnic cuisines. With the rise in world travel, consumers have become more familiar with the subtleties and diversity of food options available outside the UK, resulting in more adventurous palates and a desire for more exotic flavour profiles.

Sonia Hebrard, Caffè Ritazza Brand Manager who collected the award on the day, said “We are absolutely delighted to win this award as it is a testament to our commitment to quality products based on real consumer insights and market data. We work hard to attract new customers with our new product development, as well as retaining our loyal regulars and it’s great to be able to create a new classic which appeals to them both.”

Following its introduction to the Caffè Ritazza range, the Firecracker shot to second place in the hot filled breads category within its first four weeks, behind the eternal favourite, ham and cheese. Months later, the Firecracker shows no signs of relinquishing its crown, proving a perfect fit with UK consumers’ tastes.
