Marcus Samuelsson and SSP open new Street Food at Stockholm- Arlanda Airport

SSP News Release 30-June-2010

World-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson and SSP, the leading dedicated operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, has opened a new Street Food restaurant at Stockholm-Arlanda airport. The restaurant is the second Street Food in Sweden and offers visitors fresh and wholesome street food from around the world.

‘Opening the second Street Food restaurant at the airport is a natural development of the concept,’ said Samulesson. ‘An airport is the last stop before flying off to experience new and exciting cuisines. Therefore, it’s great to be able to offer passengers the chance to start their culinary voyage at the airport by visiting Street Food.’

Marcus Samuelsson and SSP began their collaboration in 2006 and opened the first Street Food restaurant at Stockholm’s central train station in autumn 2007. ‘We realised there was an increasing demand for quality products in the fast-food market and that Street Food could be the ideal response to that demand. And we were right,’ said Lars Edengréen, Managing Director of SSP Sweden. ‘We have continued to develop Street Food and we are thrilled that the time has come for the brand at the airport.’

Commenting on the new opening, Anne-Marie Zuidweg, Managing Director of Arlanda Schiphol Development Company AB said; ‘Street Food with its "glocal" concept, where a range of food from across the globe is combined with local ingredients, fits perfectly at Sweden’s principal international airport. We think that with the introduction of this concept at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport our business partner SSP contributes to the special and innovative character of this marketplace.’

Full of flavour and colour, the dishes at Street Food are served quickly and simply. Items on the menu include classic beef burgers served with lettuce, tomato, onion, wasabi mayonnaise, coleslaw and fries, and Teriyaki or Pad Thai Noodles, presented with fresh red peppers, onion, zucchini and broccoli. There’s also miso soup, garnished with shrimp chips, and classic grilled Swedish sausage or chorizo, served with sautéed onion, or spicy sauerkraut with kimchi. Another menu favourite is Steak Frites, served with citrus-chilli butter, tomato and onion salad and straw fries.

Street Food is located at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport’s international terminal 5, gate area 1-10.
