SSP America introduces international favorites to Raleigh-Durham International Airport

SSP News Release 14-October-2008

SSP America continues to enhance the traveling consumers’ experience in North American airports with their newest additions serving passengers in “The Triangle”

LANSDOWNE, VA – SSP America, the North American division of SSP, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, will open Camden Food Co. and Panopolis at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) on October 25. These highly-differentiated international brands will provide local Carolinians and the more than 10 million passengers traveling through RDU each year, with healthier organic alternatives and “inspired” premium sandwiches.

“We believe the impressive undertaking of the new Terminal 2 serves as the perfect venue in North America to debut our Camden Food Co. and Panopolis concepts by providing American traveling consumers with what they are demanding—genuine premium, healthy, portable food options,” said Les Cappetta, Chief Executive Officer of SSP America.

Camden Food Co. satisfies the growing demand for healthier, environmentally-friendly, fresh dining options by offering an array of organic, fair trade and low-fat choices. Their sandwiches, salads and snacks all convey the same message — “Eating Right” with the proper balance. The majority of items are made with authentic ingredients, meaning fewer preservatives and better tasting products. The menu features exciting items like turkey avocado on labaccia bread, hummus crunch vegetable wraps, prosciutto and mozzarella salads, strawberry fruit smoothies as well as fair trade and organic cappuccinos and coffees. For those who want to indulge but prefer healthy choices, Camden offers gluten-free brownies, organic sea salt & almond milk chocolate bars and low-fat raspberry muffins. An inviting ambiance underscores Camden Food Co.’s clean, crisp and appealing atmosphere.

This well-loved European company was named the ‘En-route Sandwich Retailer of the Year’ in 2007 by the British Sandwich Association in recognition of its commitment to providing high quality and great tasting products for traveling consumers.

Panopolis focuses on an authentic, back-to-basics, simple approach to food, offering freshly baked artisan bread products.

Different from other sandwich or bakery shops, Panopolis offers a range of breads from across the globe, filled with premium quality ingredients. The bread and pastries are baked on the premises and the menu features a mix of bagels and baguettes, along with mini-ciabatta triangles, pretzel breads, and arctic bread from Scandinavia. Delicious fillings include traditional honey cured ham, smoked, free-range turkey, shaved parmesan, goat cheese, pesto and pine nuts, while those with a sweet tooth can choose from items such as the chocolate and fresh raspberry mini-baguette.

Travelers to RDU can also anticipate more SSP America properties arriving in 2009 when the company is scheduled to open Moe’s Southwest Grill, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Jason’s Deli and Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar.

SSP America now operates in more than 42 airports across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. The company is fast becoming known for its dedication to the needs of the traveling consumer identified through its unique global research program; continued development and expansion of a powerful brand portfolio; recruitment of talented restaurant executives from industry-leading companies; and innovative approach to aesthetics and structural designs.
