SSP expands in Shanghai airport Terminal 2
SSP News Release 2-April-2008
SSP, The Food Travel Experts, opens 19 units, ranging from full service restaurants to fast food, at the prestigious new Terminal 2 in Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The new outlets, which are located throughout the landside and airside areas of the new facility, include international brands such as Burger King, Caffè Ritazza and Famous Famiglia pizza, renowned local brands such as Shanghai Ren Jia, offering local Shanghainese cuisine, as well as several well-known national and regional specialists such as noodle house Ajisen Ramen. SSP is pleased to bring several tailor-made brands to Shanghai with the introduction of Tian Xia Dumplings and waiter service restaurant Spices, offering Cantonese-style food with Shanghainese and Hainanese influences, as well as a fast food format called Spices Light, developed specially for Shanghai and Champion’s Sportsbar. Many of these brands are already familiar sights at other SSP locations around the region including Hong Hong airport and Hainan’s Haikou Meilan airport.
Other concepts created by SSP to meet the specific passenger profile in this new terminal include 5th Avenue Tea House, Feng Yuen Korean Restaurant and Rotini Italian restaurant.
SSP has been operating at Shanghai Pudong International Airport since October 2007, with three units in T1. The new units take the total number of outlets operated by SSP at the airport to 22.
‘We are delighted to have this opportunity to further develop our relationship with Shanghai Airport Authority (SIA) and build on the success of our existing operation in Terminal 1 with the addition of these new units in one of the region’s most high profile new facilities. We have invested significantly in this new operation, mobilizing a team of over 1,000 people and we are very excited about the prospects for success for both SSP and SIA,’ said Daren Lau, Managing Director, SSP Asia Pacific.
