Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof
Dressed to impress
Designed by the German architect Hermann Eggert and engineer Johann Wilhelm Schwedler, Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is the second busiest station in Germany, with approximately 350,000 passengers passing through the station each day. Nearly three quarters (70%) of these passengers are commuters, whilst the remaining 30% are leisure and business travellers. SSP brands are situated in prime locations throughout Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof’s impressive entrance halls as well as in the underground departure area.
SSP operates a variety of outlets and brands at the station to cater for this wide ranging profile of consumers. Concepts range from international big-hitters such as Burger King, to the traditionally German M-Bar, Other brands include the bar brands Connection and Zapfhan, bakery concept Herberer, Point convenience store and high-end fish brand Gosch, which brings the charm of the sea-side to the heart of the city.
There is also a thriving conference centre at the station, called Cosmopolitan. The centre provides meeting facilities together with a full-service restaurant. Well served with good connections to Frankfurt’s airport as well as train links, the venue is popular with local business people and those visiting the city for its major international business exhibitions.
SSP has recently introduced a new digital communication system at Frankfurt. Six LCD screens, located at various outlets across the station, are used to display promotional information relating to SSP’s brands, as well as advertising from business partners including Coca-Cola, Proctor and Gamble and Danone.
