Hamburg Hauptbahnhof
High-speed service at busy travel hub
Situated in the city centre, Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is the busiest station in Germany and the second busiest in Europe after Gare Du Nord.
Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is a hub for international travel connecting Denmark to central Europe, with many passengers travelling to and from Scandinavia changing trains in Hamburg. Hamburg Hauptbahnhof also connects two of the city’s three high-speed transport systems.
SSP began to operate at the station with acquisition of German catering company Mitropa, which had in turn managed food and beverage outlets at Hamburg for many decades. Today the company serves an ever-expanding number of travellers passing through the station, which now averages 450,000 a day. 60% of these passengers are commuters with the remaining 40% consisting of business and leisure travellers.
SSP’s outlets are located at prime locations around the station. In the main food court SSP runs a Point Convenience store, a Pizza Hut outlet and a generic bar. To complete the offer and meet the needs of busy travellers there are also international brands such as, Caffe Ritazza, and locally popular brands such as Curry Wurscht Express, Kamps and bar brand Zapfhahn.
