The real food company was launched to provide a totally new alternative in food travel retail. Passionate about quality and freshness, the real food company serves freshly-made hot and cold food, including regional specials made from locally-sourced ingredients.
Since its launch, the brand has constantly evolved. Soft decor that makes abundant use of natural materials and neutral colours emphasises a focus on fresh food, while the menu has been extended and developed to allow customers more choice, for example the option to create their own salads at specially designed salad bars.
Originating from the UK, the brand entered the US market in 2010 when the first US outlet opened at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Fashioned in an expansive ‘marche’ style, the new restaurant was unlike anything ever seen in the US market. Wandering between eight cooking areas, customers are offered an unprecedented quality and variety of foods. At the barbeque, tender pork shoulder, ribs or brisket are prepared daily and freshly carved at the counter. Guests can also craft a sandwich, choosing from a range of artisan breads and an endless variety of gourmet fillings. There’s also a healthy options area, and a pizza counter, where customers who have to catch a flight can have their pizza boxed to take away.
The brand’s Houston debut was an unmitigated success, and the real food company was named 2011 ‘Best New Food and Beverage concept’ at the illustrious ARN awards.
