Hannah Saunders Wins Menu Innovation and Development Award with Camden Food Co.

SSP UK is delighted to announce that its Product Development Manager, Hannah Saunders, has won the Coffee and Sandwich category with Camden Food Co.'s menu at the Menu Innovation and Development Awards (MIDAS).

Held on Thursday 18th March, MIDAS recognises outstanding and insightful NPD, whilst identifying food professionals with a pioneering approach to menu development.

Camden Food Co.'s fresh and innovative menu provides its customers with the chance to ‘eat right on the move'. Freshly made soups such as Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato & Cumin, ‘Cheese & MarmiteTM Posh Toastie' and Proscuitto, Mozzarella & Mango Salad are just an example of the pioneering products that appealed to the team of mystery diners and judges.

As part of the prize, Hannah will attend the Menu Innovation Network's five day research and insight tour of Chicago in May. Upon receiving the award, Hannah said, "The team and I work hard to endorse Camden Food Co.'s "Eat Right" philosophy and this award is testament to the fact that travellers do not have to compromise on their healthy eating habits when on the go. It is a fantastic recognition of the time we have invested in product development at Camden Food Co over the past twelve months. I'm really looking forward to learning more in Chicago and taking this knowledge home to share with the team at SSP."

Camden Food Company Brand Manager, Duncan Reilly commented, "Hannah continually brings inspiration to the range but understands the constraints of operating in a travel environment from both the consumer and staff point of view. Hannah's genuine passion and knowledge for food allows the menu to evolve a step ahead of trends, for example the recent introduction of our ‘Hot and Healthy' evening range which includes dishes such as Chicken Tagine."

Camden Food Co. was developed by Food Travel Experts, SSP UK, in a direct response to consumer research, identifying that 59% of consumers were looking for food options described as "healthy with indulgence" and a further 16% for "ultra-healthy" food. The brand is based on the principle of offering healthier, informed choices for a balanced diet. Camden Food Co. has been working in partnership with the Food Standards Agency to participate in a trial initiative to label all food products with clear calorie content information.
