SSP announces the opening of six new outlets at Gare de Lyon as part of €500m contract

SSP News Release 14-November-2012

SSP has secured a contract extension at Gare de Lyon station. The new deal will see the arrival of a number of new brands at the Parisian station, as part of a major redevelopment programme. The agreement takes the total value of SSP’s business at the station to over €500 million.

French Starbucks fans will welcome the arrival of the brand at the station. In Hall 3, a new coffee shop measuring 170 m2 with a 60 m2 terrace area, offers a variety of environments incorporating different seating styles for those who wish to work, relax, or simply meet friends. In Hall 1, there is now a Starbucks kiosk, the first of the format in a French rail station. The kiosk, conveniently located beneath the departure boards, is adjacent to a Brioche Dorée bakery, and the two complementary brands have been trading very successfully since their opening earlier this autumn.

A second Brioche Dorée in Hall 1 features a take-away counter offering a broad selection of ‘grab and go’ products, as well as a comfortable seating area overlooking the station concourse.

As part of the new enhancements, SSP will be offering customers a range of technological facilities. A first for Gare de Lyon, the new space will offer the Powerkiss wire-free charging facility which allows passengers to charge their phones, iPods and iPads without having to ‘plug-in’ as well as free wi-fi. In addition, customers can use the café’s iPads to access the internet.

Eat Factory, also in Hall 1, offers a bright and fashionable twist on the station snack-shop, and retails a variety of savoury and sweet treats. This offer is accompanied by take-away outlet Bonne Journée, which can be found in Hall 3. The line-up is completed by convenience store eat’Shop, which provides a range of self-service snacks, as well as essential travel items.

‘SSP is investing over 10 million euros in this new development at Gare de Lyon, as part of a major initiative due to be completed in 2013,’ said Gérard d’Onofrio - CEO of SSP France, Belgium and Holland. ‘We are certain that our new outlets will do much to enhance the experience for travellers passing through Gare de Lyon, and will pave the way for some exciting new plans we have for our business here at Gare de Lyon.’
