SSP America's URBANCRAVE honoured at the 2011 ACI-NA concessions conference award ceremony

SSP News Release 16-November-2011

Lansdowne, VA, November 16, 2011: SSP America, the North American division of SSP, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, is proud to announce their recognition in the “Best New Food and Beverage Concept” category for their latest emerging brand, URBANCRAVE, at the 2011 ACI-NA Richard A. Griesbach Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest Award Ceremony held in Atlanta, GA.

Opened in April 2011 at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Terminal C, URBANCRAVE delivers the latest craze of authentic “street cuisine”.  Not intended for the timid, URBANCRAVE serves up “bites from the edge” including its ever popular Inside-Out-Burgers, Grunge Peppers, Vintage Ceviche, Braised Tacos with short rib meat and 10 inch Haute Dogs piled high with flavor. Patrons are encouraged to pull up a stool to the unique reclaimed bar top of riveted steel, order some grub and wash it down with a tall cold brew to see what the fuss is all about.

Also garnering awards at the ACI-NA Conference were Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal C for first place in the Best Concessions Program division where SSP’s Le Grand Comptoir and Caliente Cab Co. reside, as well as Indianapolis International Airport, receiving second place in this category.  SSP proudly operates four restaurants, Indy 500 Grill, Harry & Izzy’s Steakhouse, Camden food co. and Shapiro’s Deli at IND.

The Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) annual Concessions Conference is recognized as being one of the best conferences in the airports concessions industry and their prestigious award ceremony recognizes “innovative spirit and outstanding achievement in airport concession practices” in airports across North America.

SSP’s win highlights their continued creative, forward-looking contribution to the airport concessions industry and to passengers across the nation.
