SSP America secures top spot as largest food and beverage concessionaire at San Diego International Airport

SSP News Release 30-April-2012

SSP America, the North American division of SSP Group, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, is proud to announce that it has received unanimous approval by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA) Board for a third food and beverage package at San Diego International Airport (SAN).  SSP’s latest win adds an additional six restaurants to its lineup, bringing the total number of SSP operated locations to 17, making SSP the primary concessionaire within the airport’s food and beverage program.

San Diego International, known endearingly as “Lindbergh Field” to its locals, ranks as the nation’s busiest single-runway commercial airport, serving just under 17 million passengers in 2011.  Projected growth for the airport is set at upwards of 27 million passengers per annum by 2030.

Thella Bowens, CEO of SDCRAA commented, “On behalf of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, I want to thank SSP America for its commitment to our team and our exciting airport and concessions redevelopment program.  We are confident that SSP’s experience and passion for food will provide the millions of SAN travelers with an exceptional range of quality options and the outstanding customer service our patrons deserve.”

SSP’s Senior Director of Business Development, Jaimini Erskine, commented, “SSP America has a shared vision with the Authority and its comprehensive Concessions Development Program (CDP). We worked closely with the Authority to ensure that our line-up delivered familiar national and regional brands, classic and sophisticated local favorites and a taste of some of our newest, most innovative concepts to San Diego travelers.  There’s something for everyone.”

The six new locations include SSP’s own award-winning UrbanCrave, serving up street cuisine, and SSP’s newest authentic Mexican fare embracing the food truck craze, Mango Taco Truck.  This new package also includes San Diego home-based Jack in the Box and Ryan Bros. Coffee, along with 2 Peet’s Coffee & Tea.  SSP’s diverse list of restaurants that are set to debut at SAN are:
