Ticket required to wine and dine at new airport precinct

Forget booking under a false name, Sydney's restaurant critics will have to cough up for an overseas airline ticket if they want to run a pen and fork through Sydney's newest eating precinct.

Bambini Wine Room, a spin-off of the popular city venue, opened last week in the area past customs at Sydney Airport's International Terminal.

A caviar joint has also opened, and sushi and italian restaurants are coming soon. An airport version of Waterloo's Danks Street Depot will serve pre-customs customers.

Bambini Wine Room co-owner Michael Potts says the menu and wine list are similar to his Elizabeth Street original, although the attitude of the customers is a little more relaxed. "We opened at 6am on thw first dat and sold a couple of glasses of bubby," Potts says.
