SSP Burger gets worldwide attention

Delegates to the APEC Summit held in Singapore on 13-14 November, had more to chew on than just meetings.


AN APEC-themed menu at O’Leary’s, which is a restaurant at the Singapore Flyer operated by SSP, included an “Obama burger” in recognition of the US President, who was in town for the summit. The burger costs S$16. And for an additional S$4, APEC delegates were able to have the country’s signature cocktail – the Singapore Sling – all in celebration of the grouping’s 20th anniversary.


The Obama Burger promotion got worldwide attention. Bloomberg TV, which has an audience of 200 million made a feature on it as did CNBC with 340 million viewers, the giant Xinhua news agency of China, Taiwanese TV channel TVBS, local TV channel U/8 with 2 million viewers alongside numerous newspapers in Singapore, mainland China and elsewhere in Asia Pacific.


Parmod Verma, Regional General Manager Singapore and India muses over the free advertisement; “we are constantly looking to drive sales by thinking outside the box.
